Tom Detelich

Tom Detelich, a proven leader and customer champion, along with his business partner Ken Bernhard, is the co-founder of Grandview Homes, a recognized leader in the direct home buyer industry—currently the fastest-growing segment in the residential real estate market.

Tom brings over 37 years of leadership and management experience to Grandview’s executive team. He began his career as a management trainee and rose through the ranks to become President and Group General Manager of one of the largest consumer finance, mortgage, and real estate companies in the U.S.

Now an entrepreneur, Tom is energized by being closer to customers and front-line employees than ever before. At Grandview, it’s not uncommon for him to personally speak with a customer or front-line team member each day—demonstrating his deep commitment to the people who drive the business forward.

Throughout his career, Tom has been most proud of fostering a customer-first culture across every organization he’s led. He believes wholeheartedly that a company only succeeds in the long term if the customer wins—and he has helped build Grandview Homes on that principle.

Tom’s impact as a leader is perhaps best described by those who have worked alongside him. Here’s what former colleagues and employees have shared (see full reviews on LinkedIn):

  • “Tom was the most inspirational leader with whom I’ve had the opportunity to work.”
  • “He is a charismatic, strong, and energetic leader.”
  • “I am a better manager and a better person for our time together.”
  • “He is great at connecting to people.”
  • “A real class act, personally and professionally.”

Beyond business, Tom and his wife Diane are deeply committed to philanthropy. They devote their time and resources to causes close to their hearts, including supporting children’s needs, advancing research and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, fighting food insecurity in their home communities of Cleveland and Chicago, and protecting and finding homes for animals.

In recognition of their impact, Tom and Diane were recently honored as  Champions of the Year at the Alzheimer’s Association’s Celebration of Hope in Cleveland, Ohio—a testament to their enduring dedication to making a difference.
